LOCC Fall Classic Llama Show - 3rd Place Medium Wool Yearling Female

We had a great time this weekend at the llama show. Yesterday was performance classes and we just volunteered all day. Today was the halter classes. We showed Tina Fey in the Yearling Medium Wool Female class and she placed 3rd in a class of 6; Decorus Domina was in the Adult Medium Wool Female class and she placed 1st in a class of 3 then took Reserve Grand Champion Medium Wool Female; Kemui Yama was in the Adult Medium Wool Male class and he placed 1st in a class of 3 then took Grand Champion Medium Wool Male and went on to take Supreme Reserve Grand Champion which means that out of all the llamas in the show he placed 2nd overall (this is basically Best in Show)! We were so pleased with how well behaved all the llamas were. I will download and tweak photos tonight and upload them to this post tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day tomorrow! Stay safe and have fun.

I want to apologize for being so rude! I love, love, love the shawl! It is incredibly beautiful and I plan to leave feedback soon. I hope all is well. I have simply been going through a blogging slump. I plan to write a post soon so that people know what is going on. THANKS and so sorry for my delay in contacting you!

What's really caught my eye, 2nd look, is how you really do show them shaved of their fiber! I remembered the "hair cut" from your earlier demonstration of the harvest. So that kind of cut (or not) is fine for showing a champion? It sure shows off their little waists!!

Awards are so nice does it help to get a better price if you sell them or their wool? I really don't recall ever seeing a Llama up close or know anything about them so your blog is a cool way to let people like me know more. Congrats to your winners and you as the breeder.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and congratulations.

Karen: Yes, most people shear their llamas for shows. It cuts grooming time by about 75% which equates to less stress for the animal AND the groomer! and it does make it easier for a judge to see their conformation without having to put hands on to get a better idea.
